Poipet: H.E. General Sar Theth, Commissioner General of National Police, has urged border police forces to be on high alert to ensure security and public order during the upcoming Khmer New Year celebrations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during a visit to border police stationed in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province this morning, H.E. General Sar Theth conveyed best wishes from Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha, extending encouragement to the officers responsible for safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
H.E. General Sar Theth commended the border police for their dedication to maintaining security and safety, particularly during the festive season. He emphasised the importance of the Khmer New Year as a time for family reunions and celebrations, stressing the need for heightened vigilance to protect citizens.
He instructed the police officers to increase patrols and inspections at critical locations, especially along the border, to deter criminal activity; enhance cooperation by strengthening collaboration with relevant authorities and local communities to maintain security and order; and ensuring readiness to respond to any potential emergencies.
H.E. General Sar Theth also addressed recent developments, including alleged attempts by extremist opposition groups to destabilise the royal government, reaffirming that the royal government is in control and taking legal action against those involved.
In a show of support, H.E. General Sar Theth provided financial and material assistance to the border police, including: financial contributions to individual officers, regional command, and battalions; donations of rice, noodles, canned fish, and beverages.
