Cambodian NA President Extends Condolences over Passing of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth Il

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a condolence message to H.E. Sir Lindsay Harvey Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, over the passing of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth Il.

“On this moment of greatest sadness, on behalf of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and on my own behalf, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to you, the bereaved family, as well as the brotherly people of the United Kingdom for the great loss of your beloved monarch,” wrote Samdech Heng Samrin in his condolence message dated Sept. 9.

The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia is mourning the departure of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II with the fraternal British people, he continued, underlining that Her Majesty's great legacy and devotion to the nation will be missed and remembered by all British subjects and people around the world.

“Your Excellency, Cambodia and the United Kingdom have had a longstanding relationship, which is built on mutual respect, while the two countries also work closely together on a number of areas at both bilateral and multilateral levels to further strengthen their existing relations in the interests of the two peoples in the years ahead. We also wish to take the opportunity to convey our profound thanks to the UK for its substantial assistance to Cambodia,” Samdech Heng Samrin added.

Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth Il passed away on Thursday at the age of 96. She has reigned for 70 years, making her the UK’s longest-serving monarch.
