Cambodian-Malaysian Partnership to Establish First Major Dairy Plant in Cambodia

Phnom penh: In a strategic move to capture growing domestic demand, Malaysia’s leading dairy producer, Farm Fresh Group, has entered a joint venture with Cambodia’s Alpha Group to establish the country’s first large-scale fresh milk production and processing facility.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing the partnership was signed on Oct. 26 in Kuala Lumpur, on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. The agreement, inked by Neak Oknha Ly Kunthai, Chairman and Founder of Alpha Group, and senior representatives from Farm Fresh, signals a significant investment in Cambodia’s agricultural and manufacturing sectors. The project aims to develop an integrated operation comprising a modern dairy farm and a state-of-the-art processing plant to supply the local market.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by high-level officials, including H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). The delegation was led by Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC).

Neak Oknha Ly Kunthai stated, ‘This partnership is a pivotal step in developing Cambodia’s domestic dairy production capabilities.’ He added that the goal is to significantly increase the local supply of high-quality fresh milk to meet the nation’s rising consumption.

The venture brings together Alpha Group’s local market expertise and Farm Fresh’s specialized knowledge as Malaysia’s premier dairy company. Farm Fresh operates extensive farms with a herd of approximately 14,000 dairy cows and is renowned for its production and distribution network across Southeast Asia.
