Kuala lumpur: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the growing dynamism of the ASEAN-India dialogue relations, noting that ASEAN has become India’s fourth-largest trading partner, with two-way trade reaching US$123 billion.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, at the 22nd ASEAN-India Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Samdech Thipadei emphasised ASEAN and India’s shared commitment to building a resilient and inclusive digital economy. This commitment is set to be pursued through cooperation in digital transformation, digital health, fintech, and cybersecurity by tapping into the ASEAN-India Fund for Digital Future.
The Cambodian Premier further highlighted the importance of promoting joint marketing campaigns to showcase the diverse destinations of ASEAN and India. He stressed the need to expand exchanges among tourism professionals and foster greater people-to-people connectivity between ASEAN and India.
During the summit, the ASEAN and Indian leaders officially designated 2026 as the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation and welcomed the adoption of the ASEAN-India Joint Leaders’ Statement on Sustainable Tourism. Additionally, they expressed anticipation for the timely, substantial, and mutually beneficial outcomes of the Review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA), ensuring it remains comprehensive and responsive to the evolving global and regional economic landscapes.
