Cambodia, UNDP Appreciate Good Environment Cooperation

Cambodia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have appreciated their fruitful cooperation in socio-economic and environmental development.

The appreciation was made in a meeting between H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment and Ms. Alissar Chaker, the new UNDP Resident Representative in Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on Monday.

H.E. Say Samal also underlined the ministry's good cooperation with UNDP on environment and natural resources conservation.

The ministry is working actively on the policy frameworks and the implementation to ensure sustainable environmental development in Cambodia, he added.

He emphasised that the ministry's strategic plan implementation on environment covers landfill management, waste water treatment plant construction, water purifier installation at schools, pagodas, and public sites, plastic reduction and safe food access.

From her end, Ms. Alissar Chaker spoke highly of the ministry-UNDP cooperation, especially in plastic waste reduction, climate change adaptation, natural resources conservation, clean energy use and carbon neutrality.

Cambodia is a reliable and respectful partner of UNDP, and UNDP will continue to cooperate with Cambodia, she added.
