Cambodia to Stand for Membership of Organisational Committee of Peacebuilding Commission

Cambodia will stand for membership of the Organisational Committee of the Peacebuilding Commission for the term 2025 to 2026.

“As one of the active nations and a troop-contributing country, Cambodia has decided to stand for membership of the Organisational Committee of the Peacebuilding Commission for the term 2025 to 2026”, said Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the General Debate of 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 78), held at the UN headquarters in the afternoon of Sept. 22 (New York time) or in the morning of Sept. 23 (Phnom Penh time).

“To further contribute to this process, we seek your invaluable support for our candidature to this body,” he said.

In 17 years, Cambodia has sent more than 9,000 soldiers to join peacekeeping missions under the UN umbrella in nine countries, while some 900 Cambodian blue beret troops have been currently fulfilling their missions in four countries: South Sudan, Lebanon, Central Africa, and Mali.
