Cambodia to Host Next Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie


Kigali: H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, participated in the Handover Ceremony for the Presidency of the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie (CMF) held in Kigali, Rwanda, on the afternoon of Nov. 20.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the ceremony, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Rwanda for hosting the event, the Republic of France for presiding over the 46th CMF, and H.E. Ms. Louise MUSHIKIWABO, Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), for their dedication and hard work in fulfilling their responsibilities.



On this occasion, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn also outlined Cambodia’s priorities as the President of the 47th CMF and the host of the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026. He affirmed Cambodia’s commitment to organizing both events successfully.



The Francophonie Summit is a significant event that allows Cambodia to showcase its cultural heritage and commitment to the values upheld by Francophonie.



The Francophonie Summit is recognized as the highest authority in the Francophonie, convening every two years and bringing together the heads of state and governments from all member states.



La Francophonie was officially established on March 20, 1970. Cambodia joined as an observer member during the 4th Francophonie Summit in Chaillot, Paris, France, in November 1991, and became a full member during the 5th Francophonie Summit in Grand-Baie, Mauritius, in October 1993.



The International Organisation of La Francophonie currently includes 93 member states, comprising 56 full members, 5 associate members, and 32 observers.
