Cambodia to Get Two More Million Doses of Sinovac Early Next Month

If nothing changes, two more million doses of Sinovac Cambodia has ordered from China will arrive in Phnom Penh in early September.

The information was shared by H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Chairwoman of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination while presiding over the handover ceremony of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s 10 million Riel (about US$2,500) and other donations to grandmother Prum Kuoy, 76, the 9 millionth vaccinated person, in O’ Raing Ov district, Thbong Khmum province on Aug. 29.

Cambodia has currently more than 25 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from purchases and donations: 7.8 million doses of Sinopharm, 14.5 million doses of Sinovac, 1,739,000 doses of AstraZeneca, and 1,064,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson.

As of Aug. 29, for the target of 10 million adults, 9,092,155 people have obtained their first jab, or 90.92 percent, among them 8,123,708 have been fully vaccinated.

For the children-youth aged 12 to under 18 years old, 1,470,840 or 74.78 percent of the nearly two-million target have received their first dose, while 268,608 already got the 2nd dose.

Besides, 599,722 booster doses have been administered to frontline officials across the countries.

If we add all the figures, Cambodia has so far vaccinated about 66.02 percent of the total population of 16 million.
