Cambodia, the host country, remains at the first place for medal tally on the second day of SEA Games 2023 with 19 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals.

The figures were updated by the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) as of May 6, at 10:30 pm.

Of the 19 gold medals, 4 were won in Kun Bokator, 4 in Vovinam, 3 in Chinlone, 2 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Aquathlon, 1 in Soft Tennis, and 1 in E-Sports.

Indonesia ranked second with 8 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals; while the third, fourth and fifth places went to Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam with 7 gold, 10 silver and 16 bronze; 7 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze; and 6 gold, 11 silver and 19 bronze, respectively.

Singapore came in sixth with 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, followed by Myanmar with 3 gold, 1 silver and 10 bronze; Laos with 2 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze; Malaysia with 2 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze; and Brunei and Timor-Leste with a bronze medal each.

Some 25 sports competitions are on today's programme – Boxing, Football, Kun Khmer, Kun Bokator, Pencak Silat, Sailing, Hockey, Volleyball, Jiu-Jitsu, Athletics, Obstacle Race, Triathlon, Cricket, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), E-sports, Karate, Soft Tennis, Petanque, Vovinam, Swimming, Mountain Bike, Basketball, Sepak Takraw, and Teqball.

Over 12,000 athletes from 11 participating countries are set to compete in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the SEA Games 2023 under the motto of “Sport: Live in Peace” from May 5 to 17.

As the host country, Cambodia is determined to win as much medals as possible. In the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022, the Kingdom bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze.
