Cambodia Receives 133 Vaccine Freezers and Other Cold Chain Equipment from Australia

The Government of Australia has donated 133 freezers to Cambodia, including 33 ultra-low (negative 80°C) temperature freezers, and 100 negative 20°C freezers, and other essential cold chain equipment to Cambodia for COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The handover ceremony took place here on Monday under the presidency of Cambodian Minister of Health H.E. Prof. Mam Bunheng and Australian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Pablo Kang.

According to the Australian Embassy, the delivery of freezers is part of Australia’s AUD35.7 million commitment to support Cambodia’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign, through a partnership with UNICEF Cambodia.

These freezers will support the Cambodian Ministry of Health to store and roll out the remainder of Australia’s recently donated 2.35 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to provinces outside Phnom Penh, it added.

This support is additional to the AUD 130 million contribution to the COVAX Advance Market Commitment, which has so far seen over 3.5 million vaccine doses delivered to Cambodia, it said.

“As we mark 70 years of diplomatic relations, Australia remains committed to working with Cambodia’s Government to help secure the safety and prosperity of Cambodians and Australians, as well as our Indo Pacific neighbours,” stressed the embassy.
