Phnom penh: The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has reaffirmed Cambodia’s adherence to the One-China Policy. This statement was made in response to several media inquiries concerning Cambodia’s stance on the escalating tension between Japan and China over Taiwan.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the spokesperson emphasized Cambodia’s strong advocacy for maintaining regional peace, stability, and harmony. This is based on principles of mutual respect and the peaceful resolution of differences and disputes.
The spokesperson reiterated Cambodia’s firm adherence to the One-China Policy, recognizing the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole lawful government representing all of China, with Taiwan being an inalienable part of China’s territory. The spokesperson further stated that Cambodia views the Taiwan issue as an internal matter of the People’s Republic of China and supports China’s efforts to achieve national reunification, opposing any form of “Taiwan Independence.”
