Kuala lumpur: At the 47th ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to contributing to ASEAN’s community-building efforts toward the realisation of a resilient, innovative, inclusive, and people-centred Community, in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045: Our Shared Future.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in his address, Samdech Thipadei commended Malaysia for its exemplary Chairmanship of ASEAN this year. He highlighted that under Malaysia’s leadership, the region has continued to move forward with unity, resilience, and purpose. He expressed Cambodia’s deep appreciation to Prime Minister H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his personal leadership and steadfast commitment in facilitating the peaceful resolution of the Cambodia-Thailand dispute.
Samdech Thipadei further lauded Malaysia’s resolute dedication to regional peace and stability, reflected through its constructive facilitation and hosting of the four-party talks on the Peace Deal proposed by President Donald Trump, which was officially signed in Kuala Lumpur-a development marking a new milestone in ASEAN’s diplomatic achievements.
Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed the historic admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member, describing it as a testament to ASEAN’s enduring strength and inclusiveness. He noted that this achievement signifies the organisation’s determination to deepen regional integration, injecting renewed energy and dynamism into the ASEAN Community-building process.
Amid global uncertainties, Samdech Thipadei further underscored that, despite resurgent global conflicts, ASEAN continues to stand as a region of peace and stability that upholds dialogue over confrontation, peaceful means over coercion, and international law over unilateral action, renouncing the threat or use of force and upholding the core principles of the UN Charter and the ASEAN Charter.
