Cambodia PM Sends Message to Some Foreign Diplomats

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this morning sent a strong message to some foreign diplomats.

At the inauguration ceremony of newly-constructed “Techo Aphivadh” Building, the Calmette Hospital’s Polytechnic Centre in Phnom Penh, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on foreign countries to remain silent from now until the 7th National Election in order to allow Cambodia to use its own rules to resolve democratic issue in the country.

“From now until the election, please be silent, let us use domestic rules to solve the problem of democracy in Cambodia,” he said.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reminded them to look at Cambodia beyond Cambodia because the Kingdom also has the right to veto in some international mechanisms, especially ASEAN.

As for the ASEAN ambassadors, he added, there is no interference in Cambodia's internal affairs, but some countries' ambassadors like to do so.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister also recalled that due to their interference in Cambodian internal affairs, some foreign countries backed Lon Nol's military coup and supported the Khmer Rouge’s seat at the United Nations, which resulted in the deaths of many Cambodians, but they had expressed no regrets.
