Cambodia Hosts 2nd ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit

The 2nd ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit was held this afternoon in person as well as via video conference under the chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

In his opening remarks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said as the Chair of ASEAN in 2022, Cambodia has set the theme “Building a More Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Future: Unlocking Women’s Entrepreneurship in ASEAN” to encourage cooperation and joint commitment in promoting women’s entrepreneurship as a key driving force for sustainable and resilient socio-economic recovery and development towards building a common future and prosperity.

Within the ASEAN framework at the present and in the future, women will continue to play a significant role, especially in recovering and boosting sustainable, inclusive and resilient ASEAN economic growth, he underlined.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister continued that this is a testament reflecting the strong commitment in promoting women’s entrepreneurship solidarily and cooperatively.

“In fact, in today’s summit, we will discuss and provide inputs for the draft of the Declaration on ‘Building a More Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Future: Unlocking Women’s Entrepreneurship in ASEAN’,” he said.

The first ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit was hosted by Vietnam via videoconference in November 2020.
