Cambodia Earns Over US$1.7 Billion from Fishery Catches in 2021

Cambodia counted about 856,400 tonnes of fishery catches generating more than US$1.7 billion in national income in 2021, according to a report of the Fisheries Administration.

Of the total catches, around 383,050 tonnes were from freshwater, 125,000 tonnes from seawater and 348,350 tonnes from aquaculture.

Cambodia's fishery production export in the same year was 3,469 tonnes, added the source.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Fisheries Administration early this week, H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, spoke highly of the Fisheries Administration's achievements.

He also laid stress on the team's key efforts including in conservation of natural resources, prevention of fisheries crimes, and fishing communities.

He encouraged the administration to continue strengthening the strategic implementation in line with current national socio-economic context.
