The remarks were emphasised during the bilateral summit between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Chinese Premier H.E. Li Keqiang, in Beijing, China this afternoon.

Both leaders also agreed to develop a "diamond" cooperation framework focusing on different areas such as politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security; and to continue to adhere to multilateralism and support the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organisation at its core.

The Chinese side congratulated Cambodia on the success of its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022 and was committed to promoting the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation.

Regarding the South China Sea issue, the two sides agreed to call on all parties concerned to fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) to promote maritime cooperation; and accelerate the conclusion of the Code of Conduct (COC) for the South China Sea in a meaningful and effective manner.

Earlier on the same day, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also paid separate courtesy calls on H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China and H.E. Li Zhansu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, during which both sides agreed to boost the bilateral cooperation in all fields for the benefit of the two nations and peoples.
