Cambodia and China have discussed the promotion of cross-border trade local currency settlement, increasing payment system connectivity and central bank digital currency.
The discussion took place between H.E. Ms. Chea Serey, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and H.E. Xuan Changneng, Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China, on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia, held in Hainan province, China recently, according to NBC.
On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Chea Serey also welcomed closer cooperation to develop appropriate policies to promote the above-mentioned topics with the objective of increasing payment network resiliency and efficiency to facilitate more trade and investment between the two nations.
H.E. Ms. Chea Serey also joined a roundtable discussion with other central bank Governors, important policy makers and private sector leaders to discuss the topic of “Financial Infrastructure and Services in the Digital Era”.
