Cambodia’s medal tally jumped to 117, up from 100 yesterday, at the 32nd SEA Games, but the Kingdom lost the top place on the Medal Table which it has kept since the beginning of the games.

Of the 117 medals, 39 are gold, 39 are silver and 39 are bronze, according to the latest update of the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).

The 39 gold medals include 10 in Vovinam, 8 in Kun Bokator, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 2 in Triathlon, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, 1 in Pencak Silat, and 1 Billiard.

The host country now ranked third behind Thailand with 40 gold, 30 silver and 45 bronze medals, and Vietnam with 39 gold, 39 silver and 46 bronze medals.

The Philippines and Indonesia sit fourth and fifth with 25 gold, 39 silver and 42 bronze medals; and 25 gold, 22 silver and 52 bronze medals, respectively.

Singapore came in sixth with 20 gold, 15 silver and 18 bronze medals, followed by Malaysia with 15 gold, 15 silver and 32 bronze medals; Myanmar with11 gold, 8 silver and 28 bronze medals; Laos with 5 gold, 9 silver and 29 bronze medals; Brunei with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals; and Timor-Leste with 2 bronze medals.

A 1,203-strong Cambodian delegation, including 896 athletes, have been taking part in the 32nd SEA Games that the Kingdom is hosting for the first time in 64 years under the motto “Sport: Living in Peace” from May 5 to 17.

Cambodia bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze – in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.
