Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, will visit Myanmar tomorrow, Cambodia’s foreign ministry said yesterday.
Hun Sen will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Prak Sokhonn and a number of senior government officials, the ministry said in a statement.
During the two-day visit, the Cambodian leader will hold a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Sen-Gen Min Aung Hlaing, who is also chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar, to discuss and exchange views on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and the recent developments in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the ministry said.
Cambodia is the rotating chair of ASEAN, which groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, for 2022.
On the same day, Hun Sen said, his trip is to help solve the political crisis in Myanmar, based on a five-point consensus reached at ASEAN’s emergency summit on Apr 24 last year, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
