Cambodia and Thailand Hold 2nd Special GBC Meeting to Advance Ceasefire Implementation


Kuala lumpur: The 2nd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand commenced this morning in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting is observed by key parties, including representatives from Malaysia, the United States, and members of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) in Cambodia and Thailand.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian delegation is led by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia-Thailand GBC. The Thai delegation is headed by H.E. Gen. Nattaphon Nakphanit, Minister of National Defence and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia-Thailand GBC. This 2nd Special GBC Meeting follows the 1st Special GBC Meeting held on September 10, 2025, in Koh Kong province, Cambodia.



H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, stated that the meeting aims to review the progress of implementing the consensus reached at the GBC Extraordinary Meeting held on August 7, 2025, in Malaysia. Prior to this, the Cambodia-Thailand GBC Secretariat engaged in discussions from October 20 to 22, 2025, focusing on key documents to enhance mutual trust and ensure effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement.



The spokeswoman emphasized that Cambodia believes the 2nd Special GBC Meeting will yield fruitful outcomes and ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement by both parties, promoting peace, stability, and a return to normalcy.
