Cambodia and Thailand Conclude Special Border Meeting with Commitment to Peace


Kuala lumpur: The 2nd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand concluded successfully this morning at 11:30 a.m. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting, which was co-chaired by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia, and H.E. Gen. Nattaphon Nakphanit, Minister of National Defence of Thailand, was attended by representatives from Malaysia, the United States, and members of the Interim Observer Team in both countries.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, both parties signed the Joint Agreed Minutes and Joint Statement of the 2nd Special Meeting, signaling a strong commitment to implementing the agreed outcomes effectively. H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, emphasized that Cambodia is optimistic about the meeting’s outcomes leading to the effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement, fostering peace, stability, and a return to normalcy along the border.



The meeting’s conclusion marks a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand, with both nations expressing determination to uphold the commitments made during the discussions.
