Phnom penh: Cambodian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Romania, H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, recently held productive discussions with Romanian State Secretary H.E. Ms. Clara-Georgiana Staicu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was centered on developing a comprehensive strategy to enhance economic partnerships and educational exchanges between Cambodia and Romania.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Ambassador Chanboribo expressed warm regards from Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Prak Sokhonn, to Romanian Foreign Minister H.E. Oana ?oiu. He emphasized his commitment to collaborating with Romanian authorities to strengthen diplomatic ties throughout his tenure.

During the meeting, Ambassador Chanboribo highlighted the importance of sectors such as trade, investment, technology, energy, and education for future cooperation. He announced an upcoming visit by a Cambodian delegation, including prominent business leaders, to engage with Romanian economic institutions and explore practical opportunities in trade and investment.

On the educational front, Ambassador Chanboribo expressed gratitude for the Romanian government's decision to award scholarships to five Cambodian students this year. He suggested expanding the scholarship program in coming years, particularly in fields that align with Cambodia's development priorities, such as agro-industry, technology, and vocational training.

State Secretary Clara-Georgiana Staicu welcomed Ambassador Chanboribo to Bucharest and asked him to convey her respects to Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn. She reiterated Romania's interest in intensifying political dialogue and strengthening relations with Southeast Asia, while supporting Cambodia's engagement with the European Union.

Additionally, State Secretary Staicu congratulated Cambodia on its upcoming hosting of the Francophonie Summit and reaffirmed Romania's commitment to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). She also informed the Ambassador about Mr. Dacian Ciolo?'s candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the OIF.

The discussions ended on a positive note, with both nations expressing their determination to transform their longstanding friendship into more profound and beneficial partnerships.
