Phnom penh: The National Assembly of Cambodia and the National Assembly of Hungary have formalised their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations by signing two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) focused on parliamentary cooperation and partnership.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the signing ceremony took place after a high-level meeting between Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, and H.E. L¡szl³ K¶v©r, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary. The first MoU, which addresses parliamentary cooperation and partnership, was signed by both leaders.
A second agreement, specifically targeting cooperation between the Secretariats-General of the two legislative bodies, was signed by H.E. Dr. Keo Piseth, Permanent Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian National Assembly, and H.E. Gy¶rgy Such, Secretary-General of the National Assembly of Hungary.
The agreements aim to provide a framework for collaboration at all institutional levels. Key areas of focus include facilitating exchanges of visits, promoting experience sharing, mutual information dissemination, partnership promotion, and implementing capacity-building programmes for parliamentary officials in both countries.
Both leaders expressed that the signing marks a new historical chapter in the long-standing relationship between Cambodia and Hungary. They voiced confidence that these MoUs will bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations, highlighting their design to further strengthen people-to-people connections through their representative parliamentary institutions.
