Cambodia and Canada Strengthen Trade Relations with US$1 Billion in Bilateral Trade


Phnom penh: The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Canada-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting trade and investment, following a meeting that highlighted robust bilateral economic growth. This commitment comes as trade volume between the two nations reached US$1 billion in the first nine months of 2025.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the affirmation took place during a meeting in Malaysia on Oct. 26, 2025. Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the CCC and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Cambodia, led a CCC delegation in discussions with Mr. Wayne Farmer, President of the CABC, and a delegation of Canadian business representatives.



Neak Oknha Kith Meng emphasised the goal of the meeting: “Our meeting today aims to further strengthen the important cooperation between the Canada-ASEAN Business Council, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Council in order to boost trade and investment and accelerate bilateral economic growth.” He praised the CABC’s role in enhancing economic linkages between Canada and ASEAN, noting that the success of Canadian companies in Cambodia is a testament to the potential achievements that international investors can attain in Cambodia’s market.



The CCC President also highlighted Cambodia’s opportunities for Canadian investors, specifically mentioning prospects within the ASEAN region, leveraged by Cambodia’s strategic location and trade agreements. He expressed appreciation for CABC’s engagement and noted the presence of CCC representative offices in Montreal and Toronto, encouraging the CABC to collaborate closely with these offices on joint initiatives.



For his part, Mr. Wayne Farmer reaffirmed CABC’s dedication to strengthening economic ties with Cambodia, acknowledging the potential for a deeper economic partnership. He expressed the CABC’s intention to continue cooperation with the CCC’s Montreal and Toronto offices to further enhance future bilateral trade and investment.



According to official trade data, bilateral trade between the two countries saw a 14.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year, reaching US$1 billion in the first nine months of 2025. During this period, Cambodia’s exports to Canada totaled approximately US$972.9 million, while imports from Canada amounted to about US$52.5 million.
