Australia Reaffirms Continued Support for Cambodia’s Clean Energy Transition

Australia continues to support Cambodia’s net zero transition and move towards more climate friendly and inclusive development.

The continued support was underlined by the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, following a recent panel discussion on Cambodia’s Clean Energy Transition at the Cambodia Climate Change Summit 2022.

“We are committed to working with Cambodia to build a resilient, clean energy sector and unlock green trade and investment,” said the embassy.

Australia’s CAP-RED programme will connect off-grid villages to electricity. It will also work closely with the government and other development partners to support Cambodia to implement its renewable energy strategy.

The panel, moderated by H.E. Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, included H.E. Keo Ratanak, Managing Director of Electricité du Cambodge, Bridget McIntosh, Founder of EnergyLab Cambodia and Ms. Mola Tin, the Infrastructure Lead for CAP-RED.

The discussion centered on how Cambodia can continue to achieve its energy sustainability, reliability and affordability targets while also meeting its ambitious climate targets.
