ASEAN Condemns Use of Force Against Civilians

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has issued a statement strongly condemning the reported recent air strikes carried out by the Myanmar Armed Forces in Pa Zi Gyi Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region of Myanmar, that claimed the lives of at least dozens of civilians.

“All forms of violence must end immediately, particularly the use of force against civilians,” underlined the statement AKP received this morning.

This would be the only way to create a conducive environment for an inclusive national dialogue to find a sustainable peaceful solution in Myanmar, the source added.

“We reiterate ASEAN's commitment to continue assisting Myanmar in seeking a workable and durable solution to the ongoing crisis through promoting the full implementation of the Five-Point Consensus,” the statement concluded.
