Phnom penh: Tan Sri Michael Yeoh, President of the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, has highly appreciated Cambodia’s active contribution to global efforts to address climate change and promote environmental sustainability. The commendation was made during a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson for the Senate.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his interest in KSI’s role in contributing to regional development strategies and environmental protection. He also shared Cambodia’s vision for good governance and its active participation in environmental protection at the national, regional, and global levels.
The Senate President underlined that regardless of size or status, every country bears the responsibility to protect the environment and help mitigate global climate change. He highlighted that many residents in Phnom Penh have begun using electric vehicles, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and environmental improvement.
Cambodia, he added, has also undertaken various initiatives as a member of ASEAN and the United Nations to promote greenness and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
For his part, Tan Sri Michael Yeoh lauded Cambodia’s remarkable progress under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the current Prime Minister. He thanked Samdech Techo for sharing his valuable insights, noting that they will contribute significantly to KSI’s research and serve as important inputs for his research team to present to various public forums.
