12 Top-level Events to be on Agenda of ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Phnom Penh

There will be 12 major meetings to be held during the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Phnom Penh next week, said a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued this afternoon.

According to the source, the top-level events will include the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits; the 25th ASEAN-China Summit; the 25th ASEAN-Japan Summit; the 23rd ASEAN-ROK Summit; the 25th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit; ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit to mark 30 years of Dialogue Relations; the 10th ASEAN-US Summit; the 2nd ASEAN- Australia Summit; the ASEAN-Canada Commemorative Summit; ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit; and the 17th East Asia Summit (EAS).

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chair of ASEAN 2022, will host the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, and the 2nd ASEAN Global Dialogue, from Nov. 10 to 13. He will be accompanied by H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. PAN Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, and H.E. Dr. HANG Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, and a number of senior government officials.

Preceding the Summits, ASEAN Heads of State/Government will meet His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI, King of Cambodia, at the Royal Palace.

On the margins of the Summits, Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN, together with other ASEAN Heads of State/Government, will have a separate interface with the representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA); ASEAN Youth and ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC). 

They will also attend the 2nd ASEAN Global Dialogue on Post COVID-19 recovery which will be participated by the heads of some major international organisations. The Leaders of some ASEAN dialogue partners are also expected to attend the Dialogue.

At the Closing Ceremony of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN will hand over the Gavel of the ASEAN Chair to H.E. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, as the next ASEAN Chair.

In between the meeting schedules, Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN will also have bilateral meetings with some Heads of Delegation.

In preparation for the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn will chair the 25th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting and the 31st ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting. He will also preside over the signing ceremony of the Instruments of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) by Spain and Ukraine. He is expected to have bilateral meetings with some Foreign Ministers and dignitaries as well.
