Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak held separate talks with the delegations of European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) and Japan-based Idemitsu Saison Microfinance (Cambodia), in Phnom Penh late last week.
According to the Ministry of Commerce's news release, in the meeting with EuroCham delegation led by its Chairman Mr. Arnaud Darc, H.E. Pan Sorasak accepted the invitation to attend the first Euro Fair on June 29, 2018 which will show good business environment and give opportunity to European companies to expand markets and find business partners in Cambodia. He also thanked EuroCham for its contribution to poverty alleviation and job creation in Cambodia.
In addition, H.E. Minister welcomed EuroCham's interest to take part in drafting Cambodia's E-commerce law and pledged to push for the finalisation of the draft law as soon as possible.
For the meeting with Idemitsu Saison Microfinance delegation, Mr. Koichi Watanabe, the company's representative in Cambodia, informed H.E. Pan Sorasak about the background and vision of his company which mainly focuses on credit expansion for agricultural sector through long-term loan provision service with low interest rate for farmers or any community with and without mortgage.
H.E. Minister thanked Idemitsu Saison Microfinance for its contribution in the agricultural sector, stressing that credit expansion is a prioritised task of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
H.E. Pan Sorasak also suggested Idemitsu Saison Microfinance continuing to cooperate closely with farmers, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and some agricultural communities on paddy-rice, cassava, pepper, corn, rubber, mango, cashew nut and so on, since they are potential products for value chain development for export diversification to international markets.
