Samdech Heng Samrin Appealed to Youths to Preserve Hard-Earned Peace

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM), has called on the youths to well preserve peace earned with blood and tears by the older generations.

Samdech Heng Samrin made the appeal at a get-together with the youths participating in the "40km into History" event in Snuol district, Kratie province yesterday evening.

Peace is a key foundation to ensure the progress of democracy and human rights as well as sustainable development, equity, happiness and honour of the Cambodian people, he underlined.

Samdech Heng Samrin added that SFDCM, established on Dec. 2, 1978 as the United Front for National Salvation of Kampuchea (UFNSK), is a historical mirror for the Cambodian national society.

He also advised the youths, the country's future leaders, to continue the spirit of solidarity and learn from the older generations' heroism and sacrifice for the nation, motherland and people.

The SFDCM Chairman expressed his appreciation for the youths' active participation in the "40km into History" event which intends to create unity and solidarity among the youths and encourage them to reflect and learn from history.

It is also aimed to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of SFDCM to fall on Dec. 2.
