RGC Considers Increasing Family Allowance for Civil Servants

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen announced here this morning that the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is considering raising the monthly family allowance for civil servants.

Addressing at the celebration of the 105th Anniversary of International Women's Day held at Phnom Penh's Peace Palace under the theme 'Investing in Gender Equality is key for Sustainable Development," Samdech Techo Hun Sen said there was a request on his Facebook page to increase the monthly family allowance for civil servants.

According to the Cambodian premier, he has ordered the finance and civil service ministers to work together to find a solution. "We will increase in 2017 if we cannot make it this year, or at least there will be some incentives for wives and children of civil servants and armed forces during the Pchum Ben Day," he underlined.

Currently, the monthly allowances for civil servants' wife is 6,000 Riel (US$1,5) and 5,000 Riel (US$1.25) for each of their child.
