Not even the hot weather could stop the crowd from converging on the booths of the Rahmah Sale at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru Raya here in conjunction with the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2023 celebrations.
Most of the visitors interviewed admitted that the Rahmah Sale should be held frequently in every residential area as the prices of goods sold are reasonable.
Among the goods sold were chicken, meat, vegetables, eggs, biscuits, garlic, dried chillies, condensed milk and personal and home care products, which were sold at lower than market prices.
Sixth-six-year-old Nisom Nasir, of Jelapang here, said the prices of various items sold at the Rahmah Sale were reasonable and cheap and could not be found elsewhere.
“It would be good if the Rahmah Sale is held in every residential often… won’t be so burdened as the prices (of the goods) are really ‘rahmah’ (a boon), with eggs only costing RM8.90 per tray,” she told Bernama here today.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Rosdalilah Zahari, of Pekan Razaki near here, agreed that the Rahmah Sale ought to be held more often as it was very helpful for the people, especially the B40 group.
“I bought a bottle of cordial drink for just RM7.57, which would have cost RM9.90 in the supermarket. I also bought laundry detergent and kitchen items. It was fun shopping here,” said the private sector worker.
The two-day Rahmah Sale is from 2.30 pm to 10 pm today and from 8 am to 5 pm tomorrow.
Apart from the Rahmah Sale, various booths offering entrepreneurial products, exhibitions and federal and state government agency counter services were also set up.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will represent Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to launch the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2023 campaign at 10 am tomorrow.
The National Day celebration on Aug 31 will be held at Dataran Putrajaya while the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 will be in Kuching, Sarawak.
