The 174-kilometre-long National Road No. 58 linking Banteay Meanchey province to Oddar Meanchey province is scheduled to put into use later this month.

The inauguration ceremony will be held on Feb 26 under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The construction of National Road No. 58, which began in June 2015, was completed on Feb. 8 this year, the source said, adding that H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport paid an inspection visit to the newly-built road on Feb. 9.

Constructed by Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd. with technical supervision from Guangzhou Wanna Construction Supervision Co., Ltd., the construction of the DBST road cost over US$122 million funded by a concessional loan from the Government of China and a budget of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The road contributes vitally to facilitating the travel of those living in the northwestern area and improving transport, as well as to expand the country's economic and trade potential as it links to the neighbouring Thailand.
