Ministry of Commerce has encouraged farmers to engage contracts for their agricultural practice in order to raise its quality standard.
H.E. Mao Thora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, made the suggestion in a workshop to promote cassava export markets here in Phnom Penh yesterday.
Contracts, said the secretary of state, do not only build confidence and reduce risks of farmers, but they also ensures quality and quantity of agricultural products responsive to the market demand.
He added that, by entering a contract, farmers secure high technology and skill for their harvests, and it also benefits small-size farmers through the establishment of stable value chain for cassava and other crops.
