Cambodia To Produce Longest Boat to Set New World Record

For the up-coming Angkor Sankranta 2018 in Prey Veng province, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) is leading the building of the longest boat in order to set a new world record.

The information was shared by H.E. Sar Sokha, lawmaker and vice president of UYFC, in a recent press conference in the provincial city on the organisation of the event.

According to H.E. Sar Sokha, with the length of 85 metres and width of 1.55 metres, the boat will be able to carry 179 people.

He continued that a team from Guinness World Record will come in June to assess the boat to be collectively constructed by Prey Veng's residents.

The lawmaker encouraged as many people of Prey Veng as possible to take part in the construction of the boat.

Angkor Sankranta has been branded for cultural festival organised during Cambodian New Year Days; this year it will fall from Apr. 14-16.
