National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia will convene a meeting to discuss possible removal of convicted lawmaker H.E. Kem Sokha's immunity by this week, according to local media report.
The source cited Secretary General of the National Assembly H.E. Leng Peng Long as saying so, adding that H.E. Kem Sokha's immunity dissatisfaction is being reviewed by the legislative body's Standing Committee.
H.E. Kem Sokha, Member of the National Assembly and President of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), has been convicted recently by Phnom Penh Court of treason and spying, underlined H.E. Leng Peng Long.
Grounding the court's decision, the qualification of CNRP President's immunity as NA legislator needs review.
The review and decision on the case by the National Assembly, as quoted H.E. Leng Peng Long in the same source, will be completed no later than this week.
