Cambodia Shares Experiences on Green and Sustainability Bonds in Regional Meeting

The Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) shared its experiences on green and sustainability bonds in the meeting of Working Committee on Capital Market Development (WC-CMD). H.E. Vin Pheakdey, Deputy Director General of SERC, led the colleagues to attend the meeting of WC-CMD held in Vientiane, Lao PDR on Feb. 21. The purpose of this meeting was to update on the WC-CMD framework including ASEAN Economic Community 2025, ASEAN Bond Market Development Scorecard and Risk Monitoring Template, Infrastructure Finance Working Group, Sustainable Finance Working Group, ASEAN Sustainable Finance Hub, Progress report to ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Working Group (AFCDM-WG) under ASEAN Senior Level Committee on Financial Integration (SLC), handover WC-CMD Co-Chair 2024-2026 and other matters. 'In this meeting, SERC was invited to share experiences on green and sustainability bonds aimed to encourage the issuance of green/sustainable bonds to finance infrastructure projects in ASEAN,' read a p ress release. Cambodia Securities Exchange listed green and sustainability bonds, with firms from the education sector and telecoms giant CamGSM at the forefront. SERC accepted to be the co-chair of WC-CMD together with the Monetary Authority of Singapore for a two-year term from July 2024 to June 2026.
