Vietnamese PM Appreciates 3rd MRC Summit Hosted by Cambodia

Visiting Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, has spoken highly of the 3rd Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit being organised in Siem Reap province of Cambodia.

The remarks were made by the Vietnamese leader in Siem Reap yesterday afternoon during a bilateral talk with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier told reporters after the meeting.

H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc underlined that this is an important event to boost the implementation of agreements on sustainable management and development of the Mekong River Basin.

The Vietnamese Premier expressed thanks to Cambodia for the warm hospitality and extended best wishes to Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his 67th birthday. He also thanked the Cambodian Prime Minister for his participation in the recent 6th Greater Mekong Sub-region (6th GMS) Summit and 10th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Summit on Development Triangle Area in Hanoi, stressing that his keynote address on the occasion was short, but meaningfully comprehensive.

H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc is optimistic that Cambodia-Vietnam two-way trade will see further increase from more than US$4 billion currently, after the signing of double taxation agreement.

Besides, H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested more cooperation in information exchange in order to avoid fake information.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed warm welcome to H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc and supported his comments on the cooperation between both neighbouring countries, especially in the GMS and CLV frameworks.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister encouraged both sides to provide more favourable conditions for the business relations between people along the common border and strongly hoped that the bilateral trade and investment volume will grow further thanks to the double taxation agreement already signed.
