Thaicom, a satellite telecommunications company of Thailand, is interested in cooperating with the Ministry of Information to run all television channels in Cambodia in a broadcasting satellite.
The intention was floated by the Head of Platform and Services Business Department at Thaicom Public Company Limited Mr. Ekachai Phakdurong when received yesterday by Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith at his office here in Phnom Penh.
The packaging, added Mr. Ekachai Phakdurong, will allow easier access to the Cambodian channels by the public free of charge.
According to H.E. Khieu Kanharith, the Ministry of Information have been considering about the approach, and the development of a sub-decree for the decision by the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
In the meantime, the minister is trying to promote the broadcast of the National Television of Kampuchea, known as TVK, to other countries, and asked if Thaicom could support TVK programme accessibility in Myanmar where the company's satellite is covering.
In response, Mr. Ekachai Phakdurong agreed to look into the possibility of accommodating the request.
