Thailand’s Cooperative Loan to Rehabilitate Border Crossing Facilities in Banteay Meanchey

Cambodia has received US$26.5 million cooperative loan from Thailand to rehabilitate Stung Bot crossing facilities in Banteay Meanchey province connecting to the neighbor in order to ease mutual economic cooperation.

H.E. Vongsey Vissoth, Secretary of State for Economy and Finance, represented the Royal Government of Cambodia to sign the loan agreement with H.E. Newin Sinsiri, President of Neighboring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency of Thailand, at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh late last week.

The border crossing rehabilitation includes the construction of building, road, container warehouse, flood protection system and checkpoints.

The improved border crossing infrastructure is a long-term intervention to better economic growth of the two neighboring Kingdoms, transforming it into a peaceful and cooperative development area - a strategic commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

This is the third concessional loan from Thailand to Cambodia since 2003. Together the three loans are worth approximately US$86.3 million.
