Of 304 cases of traffic accidents recorded throughout Cambodia in January, 168 lives were lost and 395 others injured, according to a police report.
Among the dead victims, 125 are motorbike users and of them 98 did not wear helmet, added the report.
According to recent assessment shared by the General Commissariat of National Police, traffic accident cases derived primarily from excessive speeding, drink driving, traffic law abuses, vehicle factors and drowsy driving.
There were 3,531 cases of road accidents in 2017, killing 1,780 people and injuring 5,539 others, comparing to 1,717 deaths and 6,607 injures in 2016.
