Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presided over here yesterday afternoon at the Peace Palace a ceremony to present the government's cash awards to Cambodian outstanding sportsmen.
H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports said they are the medal winners of the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore last year (a gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medal winners) and the Cambodia All Stars soccer team who defeated Buriram United of Thailand 6-5 in a friendly soccer match held in Phnom Penh in late January to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen admired and encouraged the disabled athletes to further do their best, underlining that they are physically, but not psychologically disabled.
For the soccer, the Cambodian premier said good soccer team does not depend on big or small, rich or poor its country is. For example, he added, China and India are the most populous countries, but it is hard for them to find the 11 members (of soccer team) while Korea with less population have appeared many times in the finals of the World Cup.
