Some 4.5 million visitors came to enjoy their holidays in Phnom Penh during the Water Festival celebration, from Nov. 21 to 23, according to H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism.
The figure represents an increase by nearly 50 percent compared to the same period last year, pointed out H.E. Minister, adding that the pavilion erected by the Ministry of Tourism welcomed about 12,000 foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, he continued, 925,000 visitors others traveled to different provinces across the country, of them 842,000 were national tourists, up 15.3 percent, and 83,000 were foreign visitors, up 18.5 percent.
In total, he underlined, during the three-day annual celebration, Phnom Penh capital and other provinces attracted 5.43 million visitors, of them 950,000 were international tourists.
