People Along Sekong River Alerted of Flash Floods

Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) has alerted people and authorities along the Sekong River, especially those in Stung Treng province, of possible flash floods due to the collapse of a hydropower dam in southeast Laos.

In its announcement AKP has just received, MOWRAM thus advised Stung Treng provincial authorities and other relevant ministries and institutions to be ready to evacuate people to the safety area.

According to the announcement, SE-Pian Sen Nam Noi hydropower dam in Attapeu province of Laos, some 70 kilometres from the Cambodian-Lao border, was collapsed this morning and its 5 billion cubic metres of water will flow into the Sekong River.
