Ministry of Health is working with the World Health Organisation to allow online drug registration an effort to better control the quality of the product.
Spirit of the milestone reform was highlighted by the ministry's Department of Drugs and Food Deputy Director Dr. Yang Daravuth in a recent press conference on Cambodia Phar-Med Expo 2018 here in Phnom Penh.
The online registration will save time and cost for owners of pharmaceutical firms in getting their products registered as it can be done through clicks and completion of forms at ministry's website, he explained.
More importantly, it will address under-the-table fees as well as corruption in registration process and help fight fake drug traffic in domestic market.
The launch of the online drug registration will happen shortly, continued Dr. Yang Daravuth.
According to the record, for 2017 alone, there were 15,305 modern and 474 traditional medicines registered at the Ministry of Health.
