Mr. Michael Hesketh, a British author, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment, in Phnom Penh yesterday to seek understanding on Cambodia's environmental sector, said the ministry in a news release.
In the meeting, it added, H.E. Say Samal shared the ministry's fruitful achievements in environmental sector reform, especially the establishment of new institutions in response to the environmental evolution and the division between conservation and development affairs as well as the transformation of protected areas into natural tourism destinations.
H.E. Minister also laid stress on the royal government's success in ending the economic land concessions (ELCs) since 2012 and in abrogating several thousand hectares of ELCs, it pointed out.
According to the same source, Mr. Michael Hesketh is planning to write a 200-page book titled Cambodia: Risen from the Ashes.
