Director of Public Management, Financial Sector and Trade Division at the Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s Southeast Asia Department Mr. Kelly Bird and his colleagues paid here last week a visit to Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak to learn about ADB's technical cooperation with Cambodia.
On the occasion, Mr. Kelly Bird informed H.E. Minister about two pilot projects related to capacity development and vocational training for youths, carried out successfully in the Philippines.
In response, H.E. Pan Sorasak welcomed the two projects, noting their high potential on Cambodian labor market which lacks skillful labour force. He recommended ADB to implement the two pilot projects in the tourism sector, prior to others like agricultural product processing, IT, electronic device assembly and so on.
He also recalled the Ministry of Commerce's support to the creation of the Academy of Culinary Art of Cambodia in the framework of Public Private Partnership (PPP), a contribution to vocational training, and laid stress on the importance of entrepreneurship skill training for young Cambodians.
