Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) yesterday participated in the Promoting environmental education workshop on Women and Children organised by the Environmental Education Department of the Ministry of Environment (MoE) of Cambodia at O' Raing Ov district, Thbong Khmum province.
The workshop was presided over by H.E. Ms. Ngin Lina, Director General of Environmental Knowledge and Information of the Ministry of Environment and with the participation of O' Raing Ov district governor, KOICA management, KOICA volunteers, and other participants of around 100 people.
According to a KOICA's press release, after the workshop, the Ministry of Environment and KOICA officials took part in the eco-bag distribution campaign at O' Raing Ov market of Thbong Khmum province.
The participants provided eco-bags to people in the market with education message aiming to motivate people to use eco-bag for purchasing at market and to avoid overuse of plastic. This event is also to raise public awareness of environmental issues and to appeal for every individual's participation in the mission of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and appropriate use of natural resources to ensure environmental sustainability.
This was the 2nd time of eco-bag distribution by KOICA in Cambodia. The first time was held on Nov. 23, 2017 at Phnom Penh Thmey Primary School under the presidency of Mr. Jeong Yun Gil, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, H.E. Ms. Ngin Lina, Director General of Environmental Knowledge and Information of the Ministry of Environment, and H.E. Suy Serith, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh Municipality.
