King, Queen-Mother Depart for Routine Medical Checkup in China

His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk left here this morning for a routine medical checkup in China.

The Cambodian monarchs were seen off at Phnom Penh International Airport by Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate; Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly; Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen as well as many other high-ranking officials and royal family members.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Xiong Bo was also present on the occasion.

The Cambodian monarchs undergo their routine medical checkup in China every six months.

According to a royal message, Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum will act as the Acting Head of State of Cambodia during the King's absence.
