Japan has awarded an amount of about US$340,000 from KUSANONE grant to further promote grassroots education and health sector in Cambodia.
Official handover of the grant assistance took place recently at the Japanese embassy here in Phnom Penh between the Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi and representatives of awarded agencies.
According to the ambassador, the assistance covers construction of learning centre for children and youth with disability, clinical wards, as well as other educational and health facilities in Kandal, Takeo, Mondulkiri and Kampong Thom provinces of Cambodia.
Some 21,000 rural Cambodians, he added, are expected to benefit from so-called KUSANONE grant � financial assistance for grassroots human security projects from the Government of Japan.
The KUSANONE grant began in Cambodia in 1991; to date, it has donated more than US$57 million for 586 development projects in the country.
